Samsung’s renowned Good Lock app has recently made its debut on the Google Play Store, hinting at a broader release. Good Lock, tailored exclusively for Galaxy smartphones, empowers users to personalize various aspects of their devices through its versatile “modules.” These modules enable users to apply fresh themes, alter the lock screen, customize the keyboard, and more. Since its inception in 2016, the software has garnered a dedicated following among Samsung enthusiasts.
Initially spotted by several users on X (formerly known as Twitter), the Early Access version of Good Lock on the Play Store remains discreet, accessible only via direct links to the listing page. Reports suggest that the app is exclusively downloadable on Galaxy phones, with attempts to access it on other devices leading to a message indicating incompatibility.
Furthermore, it seems that the app does not function properly on jailbroken devices. While we were able to download Good Lock on a jailbroken tablet, the app promptly crashed upon launch, likely due to its ongoing development phase on Google Play.
As for the available modules
it remains uncertain whether the Google Play version will offer the same selection as the Galaxy Store variant. However, it is confirmed to include at least one module – One Hand Operation Plus. This module enables users to create customized gesture controls, such as launching the Quick Tools menu with a long swipe to the right or accessing the notification panel with a diagonal swipe to the upper right. Considering that One Hand Operation has its own separate listing page, additional modules may require separate downloads.
The timeline for Good Lock’s exit from Early Access remains undisclosed, indicating that Samsung may be conducting thorough testing before its official launch. If released soon, this move could pave the way for more Galaxy Store-exclusive apps to become available on the Play Store. While there are few exclusive options currently, notable mentions include Samsung’s Edge Panels and Camera Assistant.
We have reached out to Samsung for insights into the app’s broader availability and the possibility of extending support to non-Galaxy devices. While it seems unlikely, we await their response for confirmation.
